20% Time Reflection

When Mr.Eckert and Ms.Hellwig told me about 20% Time I had no idea what to do. After a while I started coming up with ideas and writing them down on paper. I had lots of ideas but most of them I didn't keep for very long. Eventually I narrowed it down to building a motorized bike, building a sled that works in the summer, and making a video game. I chose making a video game as you can see.

Once I had decided to make a videogame I didn't know where to go what to do or even where to get help. My friend "Guy A" already had the idea so we paired up he had different ideas on what type of game he wanted to make, he eventually chose an RPG and I agreed. It was hard pick a game making engine, but eventually we decided on Unreal 4. Making the game was hard and still continues to be hard to make, because we aren't done.

I think the TED talk went well and I am proud of our projects over all turn out.

Reflection on 20% Time (A Post That My Teachers Made Me Write)

I feel like the project kinda failed.  We sat around too much thinking things up, and didn't spend enough time working.  It also didn't help that our mentor didn't really come around enough to help us learn how to use the program.
But we have a (terrible and unfinished) game, and we know how to make a better one.  We could do it if we wanted.  So the project might be a success at the same time.

Enemy AI

Our mentor came over and showed us how to make an AI for our monsters so they would chase us.  Now there is a random giant sitting around in the overworld that follows you.  It is not permanent, but it is a first step towards enemies.

  1. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence exhibited by machines or software. It is also the name of the academic field of study which studies how to create computers and computer software that are capable of intelligent behavior.

TED talk!

We have finished writing our TED talk.  Next, we are going to make a presentation that goes along with it.  We also have to practice it a lot.

TED talk?

Our 20% time teachers make us talk about the project and they call it a "TED talk" so "Guy A" and I have to show everything we have learned during this project. We will have to make a three to five minute talk to our class and some members of the community.

Say hi to Bob!

On topic, defeating him will grant you the Builder, an amazing hammer that can summon iron minions and does a lot of damage per swing.

Foreign Armies

Occasionally, armies from the east will approach.  50% of the time, they have come to attack the land.  You can try to ride it out in a fortified village, or you can try and help fight them off by attacking from the walls or in the battlefield.  The soldiers will drop their weapons and armor when you kill them, but they are very strong and dangerous.  The rest of the time, there will only be a few in each town.  Attacking one will make you wanted unless you kill all the witnesses.  The soldiers in their passive state will be very rude and will trade foreign weapons for ones from the area you play in.  They will trade you different weapons based on your level.
